Rise With Stocks
In 2023, I lost over six million naira. Not to fraud. Not to a scam. To a legitimate investment that I simply did not understand well enough before I put my money in. No one explained the risks clearly. No one walked me through the fundamentals. I made a decision with incomplete information — and I paid for it with years of savings. That loss changed everything.
Why I Built Rise With Stocks
After losing that money, I made a decision. I was not going to let the same thing happen to me again — and I was not going to let it happen to people around me if I could help it.
I went back to studying. I deepened my understanding of capital markets, investment structures, and financial instruments. I earned my ACIB qualification with a distinction in Corporate Financial Services. I read everything I could about how the Nigerian Exchange works, how IPOs are structured, how dividends are paid, and how retail investors like us actually make — or lose — money.
And then the Dangote Refinery IPO was announced.
I saw the same pattern forming that had burned me in 2023. Nigerians were excited. People were talking.
